The 25 of May 1977 was one of the greatest nights in Liverpool Football Club's illustrious history. When Liverpool beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 3-1 at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, it was to be the beginning of an unprecedented period of dominance by an English club in Europe.
Following the famous quarter-final victory against St Etienne and the 6-1 aggregate demolition of FC Zurich in the semi-final, Liverpool arrived in Rome with their supporters vastly outnumbering the German fans. After 28 minutes, Terry McDermott chipped Steve Heighway's through ball over the keeper to break the deadlock. Borussia equalised soon after the break but Tommy Smith headed a corner to restore Liverpool's lead on 64 minutes. A Phil Neal penalty after 82 minutes, following a foul on Kevin Keegan, sealed the win and the first of four European Cups for The Reds.
Our print captures the unforgettable moment when three of Liverpool Football Club's finest servants, with an astonishing 2,146 appearances between them, lifted the European Cup.
The autographs (left to right):
Tommy Smith
When the 1976-77 season kicked off, it seemed that Tommy Smith's 13-year career at Anfield was drawing to a close. An injury to Phil Thompson saw him return to the side and he capped a great season with a vital goal in the Final.
Ian Callaghan
Liverpool's record-holder with 857 appearances, Ian Callaghan was the only player remaining from LFC's first European encounter against Reykjavik in 1964 to finally win the coveted trophy. He achieved a full set of club medals with the European Cup victory in Rome.
Phil Neal
The only Englishman to win four European Cup medals, Neal is the most decorated player in Liverpool and English football history, and once completed a staggering 417 consecutive appearances for The Reds. Neal's calmly-taken penalty in the Olympic Stadium sealed Liverpool's victory.
Own a piece of sporting history
Three of Liverpool Football Club's most faithful servants have signed this superb limited edition print, which any Reds fan would be proud to own.
Personally Signed
Each of the 500 prints has been personally signed by all three players. Memorabilia featuring multiple signatures is very collectable.
Strictly Limited Edition
