Spurs are one of world football's most iconic clubs and the north London club claimed their enduring place in the game's folklore when they won the fabled league and cup double in 1960-61 - becoming the first side in the twentieth century to lift the two biggest domestic prizes in England in the same season. Managed by the legendary Bill Nicholson and captained by the great Danny Blanchflower, Tottenham landed the old First Division title - finishing eight points clear of Sheffield Wednesday - and completed the double with a 2-0 victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley courtesy of goals from Bobby Smith and Terry Dyson. Other clubs have since emulated Spurs' achievement but the Lilywhites will forever hold the distinction as the first side in the modern era to do the double and their success made household names of the likes of Blanchflower, Cliff Jones, Dave Mackay, Smith and Maurice Norman.
