Description

About Andy Cole One of the most predatory strikers English football has ever produced, Andrew Cole enjoyed a sensational and well-travelled professional career that spanned 19 years and yielded an astonishing total of 289 goals. Born in Nottingham in 1971, Cole began his career at Arsenal but failed to make the breakthrough in north London and headed west to Bristol City to kickstart his career. It proved the perfect move and the striker was soon in prolific form in front of goal, scoring 20 times in just 41 league appearances for The Robins. His success at Ashton Gate soon alerted Newcastle United, who paid £1.75 million to take him to St James' Park in 1993. Cole was an instant hit on Tyneside, idolised by the Toon faithful, and his instinct eye for goal, predatory instincts and movement off the ball saw him score a phenomenal 68 times in 84 games in all competitions for the club. It was not long before Manchester United came calling and in January 1995, to the dismay of the Magpies fans, he was on his way to Old Trafford in a then British record transfer worth £7 million. It was to be money well spent by Sir Alex Ferguson. In six seasons at Old Trafford, Cole scored 121 times and helped the club claim five Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the 1999 Champions League trophy. The forward had spells with Blackburn, Fulham, Manchester City and Sunderland before finally hanging up his boots in 2008 and although his England career never reached the same heights as his club exploits, he remains second only to Alan Shearer on the all-time Premier League scorers list. Own a piece of sporting history Andrew Cole was a superb servant to Manchester United and an integral part in their wonderful 1999 treble success. This brilliant print shows Cole celebrating with the United team after beating Bayern Munich and is hand-signed by the man himself. This is a stunning item of football memorabilia. Each signed print also comes with a certificate of authenticity.
