Whilst the tournament itself is often regarded as one of the more disappointing, this official poster of the Italian hosted Finals is surely one of the greatest. At its heart, it features the famous Coliseum in Rome turned into a theatre of football surrounded by the national flags of the competitors. It is an iconic artwork that collectors will rightly want to own. The World Cup itself was categorised by defensive tactics and a host of matches decided by penalty kicks. The final itself between Argentina and West Germany was one of the least inspiring finales to a competition, ironically itself being settled by a penalty, with the West Germans claiming their third title with a 1-0 victory. In any summary of the 1990 World Cup it would be remiss not to mention a certain Cameroonian by the name of Roger Milla. The forty year old Cameroon striker was tempted out of retirement and subsequently became responsible for many of the highlights of the tournament with his beaming smile, goals and trademark celebrations. Cameroon would eventually fall to England in the quarter finals and relied on two Gary Lineker penalty kicks to see them through to the semi-finals. It was there that England would face their old adversaries the West Germans and witness a inconsolable Gascoigne and ultimately a heart-breaking loss in a penalty shootout. Whilst the tournament may not go down as a classic, this official poster certainly will and we are proud to offer you a chance to own this piece of World Cup history.
