Widely regarded as one of English football's greatest ever players Sir Tom Finney is a true legend of the game. Born and bred in his beloved Preston, Finney is an iconic figure at Preston North End, a club he represented over 400 times during a war-interrupted 16-year-long career, where he amassed 187 goals. A qualified plumber, Finney combined his post-war career with a second income in the early days earning himself the nickname, "The Preston Plumber" but he quickly established himself as a forward of exceptional promise and it wasn't long before he was committed full-time to football. Just one month after making his first team debut at Deepdale he was called into the England squad, and he would go on to win 76 caps, scoring an amazing 30 goals along the way. Versatile enough to play in all five forward positions, Finney's technique and skill was admired up and down the land - as was his ability to cross and shoot with both feet equally well. A persistent groin injury ended his brilliant career in 1960.
